Once again we've come to the last day of Movember, it's always a great month, I love the mo's & I've loved frocking up ( Todays frock, a pink chiffon one i bought for Puppy on the radios party a few years ago. last nite i spoke of how I love the fact that we do all discuss depression & men's health issues more, tonight i thought I'd give you the words of some men, Puppy on the Radio,& JJ my 16 yr ols son. Two men who have lived with depression in different ways, and both of whom have lost a close family member to cancer this year.

Yes - it's PuppyOnTheRadio again, who is living testament to the fact that depression can be a debilitating disease, but more importantly one that can be treated, and eventually, overcome. Given what I have gone through over the last couple of years, and the fact that I am bouncing back, demonstrates that more than anything else.

While it is important to raise money as part of Movember, and to of course grow a fantastic landscape of facial hair - or in kitty's case, wear lots of dresses - the other thing is that people are aware that in the case of men's health it is importnat to see your doctor when the first signs of anything odd appear. The sooner it's discovered, the more successful treatment can be. Kitty mentioned losing someone to cancer, but at the same time we still have a few family member's who have struggled and survived, and the world is a much better place for that. There is no shame in admitting that you may be unwell.

(Apparently I was only supposed to write a sentence or two. Ooops. On to JJ.)

Hello people, i'm JJ. i live a pretty normal life, i go to school, i play games , i see my friends occasionly, but thats not why im writing this. I'm writing this because i want to raise the awareness of men's health issues. Earlier in the year i lost my uncle, who was a great man, to a violent form of cancer. Before this unfortunate incident i was living as i had been before, but even when you think your going to be ok, you probably wont. Losing my uncle has been very hard on me
and i'm just starting to bounce back. i have never felt like i have this year, and hope to never feel this way again :). thx 4 reading this :)

only 2 sleeps left

well i can't believe it, we're once again coming towards the end of Movember. Its a bittersweet time for me. I love the fact that everyone's chatting about important stuff like depression, I would like to encourage everyone to continue these conversations throughout the year. If you're suffering from depression, try to let people know. If you feel worried you may be go to yr GP and have a mental health check, it doesnt take long and can ease the way for you. If your worried that someone you care for may be suffering try and talk to them, if they don't respond check out beyond blue for signs & ways to help.
Oh and by the way, todays dress is red with black boots;)

I had a great day today, up early for coffee then up to take2markets Hawthorn Town Hall. I wore the cream lace dress, black boots & a navy pinstriped blazer. I would never normally wear cream but it seems to work with my new hair:) I must admit with only a few days left im starting to look enviously at the gorgeous shorts & camis in the shops, might treat myself to some soon..But for now, it's dresses, and it's spreading the word about men's health issues & encouraging conversations.
Please take the time to donate even a few dollars,

Todays dress by the way is a gorgeous little black one, one of my faves.
A bit of a crazy day, storms, car problems, my son injured himself at work...etc etc.

Hi guys, I hope Puppy on the Radio has been keeping you entertained & behaving himself lol. I knew he was waiting for his chance :)Seriously thou, if you enjoyed what he wrote give him a shout out, he's been considering blogging for a while and I think he'd be great.
So Big return to work today, a sultry, soaking Melbourne day. I was spoilt for choice, having bought 3 frocks on the weekend and all 3 still waiting to be born. I went for the pink one (although its possibly more slightly on the purple side) a flowy chiffon style, with cute little flats & of course, my big pink umbrella. For those of you unaware, my umbrella is quiet legendary around here, I'll post a pic another time so you can see what i mean. Anyhow, less than a week left of our big adventure......

To donate, visit http://au.movember.com/mospace/223923.

Hope you dont mind that Ive put a pic of the dress, not me here. to be honest after the 15th person said, "yeah you look pale, sick etc" I really didnt want to share how i looked today.

So nyway, here's todays song:
One for all of us Gleeks,

Wednesday, November 24, 2010

Hi all,
Yes, I'm back again. Mysskitn is still feeling under the weather, and given how horrible the weather was today, that's a heavy thing to be under.
For those who are unaware of the weather in Melbourne at the moment, it is hot. Of course, I've been taking public transport to work of a morning. The train I was on this morning was so hot that by the time I left the train, I was so wet from sweating that my clothes weighed an extra 5 kilo. Of course, that means that that's 5 kilos that I've lost now, so there's an upside to everything.
We have have a lovely cool change now. I'm sitting on the loungeroom floor, after having visited a year 10 movie night at my middle child's school. It has just started raining. Oh Joy!
I'm adding a couple of pictures of what my glorious kitten has been wearing of the last two days. I'm not showing you images of the kitty herself - she's curled up on the couch with Lola and watching TV.
In other news, I'm growing a rather large moustache, and yet I'm still getting kisses. (Or rather I would be if someone wasn't contagious. Sigh!) And illness is one of the reasons as to why I'm growing the facial landscape. Men's health is a huge issue, and Movember is important for exactly that reason.

To donate, visit http://au.movember.com/mospace/223923. But for the moment, enjoy the song that reflects the heat of the last couple of days.

Blue velvet

Mysskitn can't come to the keyboard today as she is feeling under the weather. As a result PuppyOnTheRadio is here and blogging on her behalf.

Ummm... now that I'm here I have no idea what to say.

I guess I'm best off explaining that the whole idea behind mofashinsta, and also my own facial landscape, is to raise money for men's health issues. The one thing above all others is that men's depression in Australia is at a horrific level. For a country with such a high standard of living we have an extraordinarily high level of suicide. This makes no bloody sense.

But, moving well away from this, Mysskitn is wearing a pretty blue dress today. I would show you a photo, but there's something about feeling unwell that makes her allergic to cameras.

If you want to donate, or even just a shout of encouragement, visit http://au.movember.com/mospace/223923/.
And the song... well...

Camberwell market.....

Today's fun was had at Camberwell market. I wore a lovely strapless lilac floral dress, yep the sun is still shining:) Mum, Lola & I had a gals morning. It was so crowded at the market, but totally worth while. I found two gorgeous frocks, a black miss shop one with a rose print for $8 and a flowing pink one for $10. Look out for them both, along with my new black lace one next week. Clearly I'm in no danger of running out of dresses. Lunch & coffee with Puppy on the Radio then lovely quiet afternoon at home.

Shopping fun & movies

I had a fabulous day today, I actually felt healthy for the first time in weeks, and the sun was shining in Melbourne. My dress for today was a lovely grey & black sundress, a little bit chic lol. It was another find from camberwell market for a couple of dollars. Puppy on the radio had lots of fun with my photo & had me in paris, on the Eiffel Tower. Thanks for the gorgeous photo editing:)

In the afternoon i took off to Westfield for a bit of retail therapy & came back with a gorgeous black dress from Dotti for the great price of $20. Then we went out for a fabulous dinner @ Nataraj in camberwell. Highly reccomended restaurant, the service is amazing. This was followed by seeing a great film, Wild Target starring Bill Nighy & Emily Blunt. An hilarious film, with great music & increadible clothes. All of my favorite things in one film. All in all a very busy, very enjoyable day.

Today was a lovely day in Melbourne, it started with a lovely cup of coffee & a black dress. Not unusual at all really:) We had a rental inspection this afternoon, so were madly cleaning the house this morning, unfortunatly I am still suffering from traces of a cold so ended up getting dizzy spells.A clear sign to rest up. After lunch Miss Lola & I went and sat in a friends garden for an hour to enjoy the sunshine. Here's the two cute doggies together....

After a nice long bath in the evening i changed into the second dress. A floral shirt dress, then off to doncaster to look at christmas trees:)

Water everywhere

Another great Movember today, & another great dress. Today's dress is a purple swirly 70's print style, again bought from Camberwell market for a couple of dollars. I find so many beautiful things there. It was a pretty normal work day, good train trip, great coffee and a nice sunny day. Puppy on the Radio cooked dinner which was a lovely chicken stir fry.
Unfortunatly after that i got so distracted that the washing machine flooded half of the house, so i had to get wet cleaning up. As a result Lola got a new binkie, so she gets a happy photo to.!

So now we've made it through half of the month, I've had a lot of fun so far, I cant wait to see what the rest of the month holds. Today's dress was a gorgeous red shirt dress, black tights & cute flats. after work today, I had to return a DVD to Box Hill Library, so todays photo is taken outside there in front of the giant jigsaw sculpture.
The donations are starting to add up, which is great to see, we're up to about $60 which is a great starting point.

Looking for costumes

This morning was spent starting to look around for costumes for the Movember ball, so exciting! I have narrowed it down to a couple of options which i cant reveal yet, but i will say I got a gorgeous wig which could very well be part of the picture. After looking around for ideas I'm hoping to be able to get something on ebay, fingers crossed.

Today's outfit is an adorable denim pinafore, with a pink lacey T underneath, and my fave red short boots to add a tiny bit of an edge. I love it, and will be wearing it again when the months done.

The great news so far is that people all over the world have been reading the blog, and linking back to Movember pages. So far we've got hits from Australia, UK, America, Hong Kong, Malaysia, and other countries. This is so exciting to me!!! I cant believe we've gone world wide this year.

A hot, stormy day

Today was a very stuffy day in Melbourne, apparently storms are on the way. I awoke with the lingering effects of a migraine. So what better way to combat all of this than wearing a bright cherry print dress, and high, high red heels:) So armed with my best red shoes & mojo, I went down to Westfield, got some false eyelashes done....( I cant tell you how much i love these, silly i know but I do lol) coffee, a bit of browsing & some new homewares and I'm a new woman lol. A very lazy afternoon, then met up with Puppy on the radio, which clearly demanded a different dress. so I popped on a fabulous black strapless number, and off I went.

So, one stuffy day turned out to be lovely.

Please don't forget to donate to the cause, and mabye if yr reading this thru twitter or facebook, retweet or post please, it's for out guys.

Todays song is trashy, but honestly who doesnt love a bit of Meatloaf on a Hot summer's Night :/

A short, but exciting day

Apologies for the late posting of Thursdays blog, i spent a lot of the day laid up with a migraine, I managed ( with the aid of codeine) to get into work for a couple of hours for our exciting Living Library program, where borrowers have the opportunity to have a one on one chat with a living "book" ie person. We had a good selection of people, including a QC involved in Human rights work, authors, a poet, an antiques dealer, and a small businesswoman.
I frocked up for the occasion in a black chiffon dress with white lace, and managed to grab some ballons which I love. It always makes me smile to have balloons around.

I borrowed a fabulous woman called Rina, who started the "Take2markets" which are vintage clothing markets, if you havent checked them out have a look here:

But as always we mus think of our Mo bros, please click here to donate:

it's day ten already??

Here we are on day 10 already....I cant believe it. today was a work day, but Puppy on the radio & I stopped off at camberwell and went to a cafe we used to go to most days but havent been to in months. It's called Collective, and is right near the station, if yr ever near there check it out. Their coffee is amazing, this new blend they had was fruity but not sweet and had a lovely kick to it.

So todays dress is a lovely 50's inspired style with a brown check pattern. I also put on my fave latte coloured heels, and i was good to go for the day. day 10 and 11 dresses, not too bad but i'll have to get numbers up i think.

Please remember that Movember is all about raising awareness as well as money so if you don't feel you can donate let's at least try and have some great conversations so our Bros feel they can talk about what's going on

Please remember to donate, here's the link again:

Ice cream................

Today was clearly a day for a summery dress, so I ransacked my wardrobe & found a gorgeous floral dress that I brought last year from Dangerfield. It's black with pink & white flowers & polka dots. Then I put some gorgeous red boots on it and I was ready to go. I've noticed over the last day or 2 that there's lots of you guys out there growing the Mo's well done! It's exciting to see so many guys participating in Movember.

After work we decided it was clearly a great ice cream evening, so headed off to Westfield .....I love Westfiled Doncaster :) So here I am with my raspberry sorbet.

Another Sunny Day

Today was another lovely sunny day in Melbourne....Dare i suggest that the rain has finally gone away? I worked at Camberwell for a change & had a lovely short day. It was another black dress day, this time a lovely tunic dress from Jacqui E (via Camberwell market) with pearls, a white cardy & white rose to accent.

Im trying to think of a fabulous costume to wear to the Movember Gala parte at the end of the mont, so if anyone has any suggestions for a glam costume for me or for both Puppy on the radio & myself as a couple let me know......at the moment i'm stumped!

Please continue to donate at:

Also here's a photo of Puppy on the Radio so you can see how his Mo is going after a week, and also a cool video featuring Paul mcDermott friends

See you tomorrow Mo peeps have fun xx

lazy sunday afternoon

Georgeous melbourne day today, coffee, lovely morning at camberwell market with Puppy on the radio & Miss Lola. The market was not great for buying today, I picked up a lovely Lilac vintage sundress for $8 but that was all. Somedays I go and come back with armfuls of things, but it was a lovely day so it didn't matter.

Today's dress was red again, ( I really seem to be developing a thing for red:) and summery and i wore my gorgeous new sunhat. Our photo was taken at the lovely Red Cup cafe in Box Hill, a short walk from my house. The Vespa which i love belongs to the owner..... If yr driving down Middleborough road look out for it. It means great coffee:)

We had another donation over the weekend, thanks Suzanne:) which takes our total inc cash that's been given to me to $50 already. So, once again i encourage you to donate to this great programe, Movember has done so much for men already let's help it continue:

A hard days work......

Today was a day when i had to do some cleaning, but first of course coffee:) Off to jones the Grocer @Westfield to try them out. Great coffee, and marcus whose the new owner is a doll!! Of course while i was there I fell into to dangerfield & bought the most adorable red 50's style sunhat. Mr 13 also got some classic black doc martin boots which he's been after for ages.

So, the dresses, yes i managed to wear two:) Clearly i had to think about it. The cleaning one had to be pretty, but also not too fussy, a bit practical. So I chose a red &white cotton print sundress. It was cool and soft to wear. then after coffee, lunch & a lovely visit with my dad I was bored & avoiding housework so i changed into number two, a black & white print dress. (In the photo on the right with me today is the lovely Mr 16 who is growing a mo for the cause:)

It's one of my faves, one of the first ones i bought a few years ago when i really started to think about styling & body shapes. it's lovely. Of course i couldn't avoid housework forever, so we did a few hours then as a reward I baked brownies which we ate with icecream. But of course the point of all of this is to raise money for our Mo Bros so please donate: So click here :

A big big day

Today started out fairly uneventful....I chose my dress, black& white polka dot shift and popped on a long black cardy I didn't even have to try a few on. Day 4pretty under control so far. A couple of donations already, thanks sweeties:) I had a gorgeous photo taken by a lovely work colleague and i was all organised.
Then something happened which rocked my little corner of the world
I found out that James Freud, lead singer of the Models for those of you two young or old to realise died. This shocked me more than i thought it would have, i mean he was a very gorgeous man in my eyes, and i spent massive amounts of time as a teenager dancing to that brilliant band but I was teary thinking about it. Unconfirmed reports say that it was suicide, we will never know for sure but he was clearly a troubled man who struggled My thoughts & love go out to his wife& sons.I guess this is what hit me again, people are so vulnerable;le & we need so much to raise money of course but also to be open & supportive so that people feel at least that they can express things they are feeling. This to me is the beauty of the Movember campaign, it combines all of this. Please donate even a little bit if you can here's the link: http://au.movember.com/mospace/223923/

so todays post is dedicated to James, a man who bought laughter and happiness to many with his music..........here's a great song

Back to work.....

Today was a pretty good work day, I decided to get out of my black thing and wear some some different colours. Today's dress was a dusty pink & brown print, a cute flippy skirt & pretty neckline. I had a good day, then had lovely nite out with @PuppyontheRadio.

Even though its early in the month I'm looking forward to the challenge and hoping we can at least equal if not better last years total raised :)

Cup day!!!!

Today was a lovely, lovely day. Cup day is one of my favorite days of the year, so clearly the dress had to be special. I tried 3 on before i was satisfied with the result. The first one was a pale lilac, I loved it but it was clearly a black day again. So i put on a gorgeous black dress with a ballerina skirt and loved it soo much that I had to take it off again cause I couldn't bear to not wear it again for a month. It was my black fairy dress, and you will see it later in the month. yes, that really is the way I think, weird i know :) Anyhow Cup day is my day in the country so here we are! Gorgeous dress fabulous day. Remember though why we're all here please donate: http://au.movember.com/mospace/223923/

Here we go again...

Yep here we go, For those of you who are wondering what this is all about it started last year when I decided i wanted to do something to support my partner who has been growing a Mo for the last few years for the Movember cause. I decided on Mofashionista, my contribution.

So what is it? The challenge is to wear nothing but dresses for a month, and also to only wear each dress once! The idea is also to blog everyday to raise awareness and also money to help with research into men's health issues, both physical & mental. If you're not sure what movember itself involves, check it out: http://au.movember.com

So here's todays outfit, number 1 for this year. The weather wasn't great here in Melbourne today, and with halloween being yesterday I was inspired by dark faries to this outfit, black chiffon teamed with gothic stylr leather lace up boots. The boots were so special they get a photo of their own.

I also got my beautiful long eyelashes done again.

This year my partner ( who shall now be known as Puppy on the Radio ) will be joined by my son whose 16 in the Mo growing. I'm proud of his understanding of how important these issues are. So i'll be here everyday with a photo of the outfits & the growing Mo's. Check it out, and if you want to donate you can do it here:
http://au.movember/mospace/223932

Here's today's song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pv5zWaTEVkI
